Lawful Filter
A Lawful Filter is an Internet content filtering system that can block access to websites, emails and downloads. Content that is considered to be inappropriate from the public opinion of a society may be blocked. Additional web resources that could be harmful to citizen (phishing pages, browser exploits, scareware) can be filtered.
The filter decision criteria for such a system could be based on any or all of the following factors:
- A filter list that is maintained by the Law Enforcement Agency, and securely distributed among the service providers.
- Content classification into groups that is done by a trusted 3rd party.
- Autonomous scanning for malicous content or blocking on signature or heuristic decision.
